A. About GoForWild

Our outdoor exploration team "GoForWild"consists of several experts in various fields of outdoor activities. Some members are national climbing athletes, others hold a degree of the NOLS (National Outdoor Leadership School) or are certified by the PA (Project Adventure). Many of us are also experienced in river trekking, climbing and white water kayaking. We do not only have the technical expertise, our members also have a strong bond to Taiwan's nature and landscape.

In the last years, the number of Taiwan's outdoor activities have increased, but unfortunately, our environment was not given the equal attention. Our team feels a responsibility to inform everyone about preserving our nature's beauty instead of polluting it.

In addition, Taiwan was once crowded with flocks of formosan sambars, schools of Taiwan shovel-jaw carps and crested serpent eagles used to fill the sky. But due to human intervention, these animals have become very rare, some even threatened to extinction.

Our dream is, to bring this scenario from the past back to life, to see these animals once again populate our land.

If you also share this dream, do join our team to help Taiwan's nature live up to its full potential.

B. Background of our Logo for "GoForWild¡¨

In Summer 2005, I participated in some classes from the NOLS in Alaska. After spending a month in icy wilderness, on the last day, I saw the sun reflecting on a beautiful lake where an otter was swimming. Its smooth motion caused gentle waves on the lake¡¥s surface. Unfortunately, I could not capture the moment since my camera battery had run out, but the picture remained in my head and it inspired me to this logo which depicts a circle with three wave-like lines running through it. The circle should somehow represent both the world and the lake¡¥s surface, the lines stand for the sky, us humans and the earth living together equally in harmony. Lastly, our logo should once more demonstrate the purpose of GoForWild, to not only explore Taiwan's landscape, but also care about the balance with the environment.

C. Our guidelines

When taking clients on our tour, our priority number one is to ensure safety for each participant, our second priority is eco-friendliness and last but not least: fun. In order to fulfill the first and most important priority, safety, we start by assigning our guides to supervise max. 3-5 clients and fully equipping each participant (e.g. when river trekking: helmet, safety harness, etc.). In comparison, in other mass tourist group activities, one guide has to take care for 10-20 clients and there is also often a lack of equipment which endangers the safety of the whole group.

Now referring to our second priority, eco-friendliness, we try to accomplish that by taking not to large groups on our tours in order to prevent excessive pollution of the nature, e.g. max. 10 people form a group when mountaineering, max. 20 clients when river trekking, etc. In addition, we also teach our clients how to not negatively affect the environment whilst still having fun, leading to our last priority.

Our clients should be able to get to know the beauty and wilderness of Taiwan's nature and in addition learn a few interesting and useful skills when venturing in the wild in order to achieve an unforgettable experience overall.
